Brief Profile
Omaira is a Women's Protection and Empowerment Advocate based in Colombia. After surviving gender-based violence and being displaced twice, she became a dedicated advocate for women's rights. Omaira listens to survivors and identifies ways to help, aiming to prevent and respond to gender-based violence in her community
Through her involvement with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), Omaira has received training on how to listen to survivors and emotionally care for herself, protecting against the effects of second-hand trauma.
Her work exemplifies resilience and dedication to empowering women and girls in Colombia.
