Brief Profile

Born in 2002 in Ramu, a rural area in the Chittagong Division of Bangladesh, Rimu hails from a peasant farming family. Despite facing significant challenges, she completed her education and became deeply involved in social welfare activities.

In 2018, Rimu joined the Young Women Leaders for Peace program, where she focused on providing education to Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar. She organized literacy and numeracy classes for women and children who lacked access to formal education. Additionally, Rimu raised awareness about critical issues such as child marriage, dowries, and domestic violence through various mediums, including radio broadcasts and theater performances.

Her unwavering commitment to humanitarian work earned her recognition as one of the BBC's 100 Women in 2020, highlighting her as an inspiring and influential figure globally.

Rimu continues to advocate for women's rights and education, striving to create a more equitable society for all, especially in conflict-affected areas.
